Dedication Prayer

DEDICATION PRAYER

McKEEN CHRISTIAN STUDY CENTER

Brunswick, Maine

September 27, 2014

Our Father, Creator, Redeemer, and Judge of all the earth, we approach you this afternoon as the God who is there—the one living and true God.

We come with deep gratitude.  Thank you for your faithful and loyal love; thank you for your extravagant grace.

Thank you for your provision—those good gifts which come from you:

·      for the servant leadership of Rob and Sim Gregory,

·      for lively student interest,

·      for support of charities and foundations and donors,

·      and for volunteers who make this Christian Study Center possible.

Thank you for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and its long history of student ministry.

Thank you for Bowdoin College’s first President Joseph McKeen—devout Christian, educated and an educator for the good of others, who lived out a moral and virtuous faith.

We dedicate, we consecrate, we sanctify and set apart this center as a place of faith and hope and love.

We want this to be a place of grace and truth, a place of warm hospitality, and a place where holiness of life can be pursued without apology by students at Bowdoin College.

We pray, using the final words of President McKeen’s inaugural address over 200 years ago.  As he prayed for the college, so we pray that this McKeen Christian Study Center “may eminently contribute to the advancement of useful knowledge, the religion of Jesus Christ, the best interests of man, and the glory of God.”

Not to us, Lord, not to us, but to you alone “be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! (Ephesians 3:21)”    And all those who agreed say, “Amen.”
